But, originally, Shogi is an easy board game that anyone can play regardless of age and gender. You can enjoy playing it, once you know the way to move pieces and basic rules.

We attribute one possible reason why people think Shogi is something difficult to the looks of Shogi equipment. Shogi equipment can hardly be adorable in their shapes and materials.

Usually, craft people make Shogi equipment by careful hand works. From adults’ point of view, each meticulous work is just amazing. But, from children’s and mothers’ point of view, such aesthetic works could make them feel hesitate to approach.

Therefore, we made Shogi equipment, using adorable designs to provide sweet and warm image. We do hope our original equipment make Shogi something familiar to children and their mothers.

Design of Gardenia Flower

Gardenia flower is white and very cute flower. We use this flower as the motif for our fabric Shogi board.
Do you know that gardenia flower is closely related to Shogi?

The Japanese name of gardenia flower is “Kuchi Nashi” that means “No mouth”. In Shogi, there is a traditional rule that during a game, no one can be allowed to give advice to players. “No mouth” or “Kuchi Nashi” came from this rule and a shape of Shogi board legs comes from the shape of this flower’s fruits.

We hope that children become familiar with Shogi that represents authentic Japanese culture, using our original Shogi equipment. So, we employed very cute gardenia flower as a motif for our Shogi board made of fabric.
